Home From Vacation To-Do List

Boy, I am feeling this post title. I am home from like 10 days of vacation (Camping with the family in our new camper)...

I have always come home and been the person to unpack right away. Get laundry started. Put everything away so it is ready to use when I need it. I have my system of to-do's that I go through every time and thought I could share it with you.

  1. Dirty Laundry: Put it straight in the laundry room and get it sorted for yourself and everyone else you do laundry for. I don't do my big kids laundry, so they take care of theirs. Start that washer and proceed to the next step.

  2. Unpack: I unpack myself and my little kids. I make sure all clean clothing (I take extra because they are little kids) is put away. All toiletries get put away.

  3. Put Dishes Away: When we leave to go out of town I will set the dishwasher to run so that when we get home there aren't dirty dishes. Once we are home putting the dishes away is a priority. I don't like having a sink full of dishes, I like to run the dishwasher at night, empty it in the morning and put dishes in as used. Same goes for when we are home from a trip. Put them away and start filling up.

  4. Easy Meals: The one thing I dread about coming home is having to think of what to make for dinner. I will plan an easy meal that doesn't take many ingredients, is a crowd favorite and is fast. Sometimes it is Orange Chicken (Costco freezer section) or Frozen Pizza or even Salad (but I have small kids and salad is green...)

  5. Grace: I give my kids grace when we get home. I don't expect them to do their regularly scheduled chores that day. I expect them to get their stuff put away and to be helpful if something needs to be done. Other than that, let's rest. Let's set ourselves up for success.

What do you do when you get home from vacation to set you up for success?
