Why You Need an Event Planner

As an event planner, of course I think you need me. As an event planner, sure, you can do it yourself. But do you really want to?

Let's start with a story from my past. It was nearly 18 years ago. I was pregnant with Courtney. My Brother-in-Law was getting married. It was a beautiful ceremony. It was in Phoenix and the weather was perfect for winter. The reception was at his new wife's childhood home. We walked in, me in my cute maternity dress cradling my belly. And then. Someone who was from their ward (church congregation) walked up to us and says "are you family?" "Yes!" we respond. To which she holds out a bag of garbage and says "Please take this out."

We as siblings of the groom were tasked with taking out the garbage rather than being guests of the wedding.

If anything. You need an event planner because you don't want your guests having to take out the garbage at your event.

Here are my top reasons why you should hire an event planner:

  • Present: You can be present at the event you are hosting.

  • Garbage: See above story.

  • Collaboration: An event planner knows all the right people to help make your event amazing.

  • Knowledge: An event planner has done events and has a great knowledge of what works and what doesn't. They will help your event to run seamlessly and flawlessly.

  • Wedding Specific: An event planner will be able to boss friends and family around to make sure that they are in the right place at the right time. They will help ensure the wedding ceremony flows perfectly and everyone is on cue. When it comes time to change from ceremony to reception they will take care of that while you are busy taking those family photos.
