Since today is the date that 5 years ago I got a message from a super handsome man online I thought I would tell you the beginning of our love story.
5 years ago I was a single mom of two (Courtney and Alex). I had dated a little. I was working full time. Full time momma. So I was giving online dating a try. And there are some WIERDOS out there. On this particular September 20th, 2013 I got a message from a guy that is super cute. So I messaged him back. I wish I had saved those messages. But either way, I was excited to have a cute guy that seemed very decent message me. Because let’s be honest, if someone is messaging you online dating they have to think you are cute. They wouldn’t be sending a message otherwise.
The next day we spent a few hours chatting through the online dating website. I even gave him my number because I had to take my kids to a birthday party. I wasn’t ready to stop talking to him. But, responsibilities. What I didn’t expect was for him to actually CALL me while I was at the birthday party. Once I heard his voice, I was smitten.
I guess I should fill you in a little more. I was living in Seattle, Washington. Scott was living in Utah. Those two places aren’t close to each other AT ALL. So I did have a few times where I worried, “am I wasting my time? Will this even have the possibility to go anywhere?”

We then were talking every day, texting while we were at work. Talking on the phone after my kids were in bed. And FINALLY we had the idea to try Skype. This was a game changer. We got to see each other while we talked and learn each other’s facial expressions and tones so much better than we could have if we were just talking on the phone.
This went on for a few weeks. I was liking Scott more and more. I was excited to talk to him. I looked forward to his texts. Finally I brought up meeting each other in real life.
