Being Present This Season

As this year is coming to an end, I want to take time to make the most memories possible. That means being present in the moments that are created to make this season special.

Each night since December 1st we have read a chapter out of How Winston Delivered Christmas and made the little craft each night. I love sitting around the table with my kids and reading to them. Oliver doesn’t sit super still for this, but that’s ok. He’s 2.

We have had more family time in the evenings where we are just hanging out. We will turn on some music and let Claire do her interpretive dance. I will pretend wrestle with Oliver while Alex and Scott are big boy wrestling. Courtney just loves watching this all.

One thing I have noticed is that we all need to put our phones away. Once we do that magic happens. Another thing is creating a space where memories can be made. Whether it be buying sugar cookies at the store for the kids to frost and decorate. You don’t have to make the cookies from scratch to have a magical moment.

Being present is about making those you are with feel important. Giving them your time and really engaging is what our families need.

What are you doing to make sure you are present?
