While I was setting up my blog posts for this month I wanted to focus on a couple of things rather than LOTS of things. Since my kids are heading back to school this month – that’s something I focused on.
We have a few traditions at the beginning of the year that we love doing. I enjoy having traditions because my kids know what to expect during a change in life.
Photos: Each year I do a photo of the kids in the front yard with the same sign. This year Claire gets to take part in the photos as a pre-schooler.
Dinner: I like to have a dinner full of my kids favorite things on the first day of school. It helps them feel grounded and loved.
Blessings: We belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe in Priesthood power, and with that power worthy Priesthood holders are able to give blessings to their children. Each year Scott lays his hands on our children’s heads and blesses them for the school year to come. It is always beautiful and special.
NEW TRADITION: Snack Trays: this year my goal is to have a #snacktrayoftheday for the kids sitting out on the counter when they come home from school. That way they have healthy food ready to eat as soon as they walk in the door.
What are some of your back to school traditions? I would love to see and maybe add them to ours.
