As a wedding coordinator I get asked what is on trend. I try to stay up on trends, however the beauty of weddings is they are a reflection of you and your fiancé.
Intimate
We are still seeing a lot of intimate weddings which came on to the scene in 2020 for good reason. Couples are looking at creating a more intimate but extravagant wedding for 50 or less.
Long Weekend Weddings
Instead of doing one day of celebrating, our brides and grooms are looking to do long weekend (usually Friday-Sunday) weddings. These long weekends start with a big welcome/rehearsal dinner, the wedding and reception followed the last day by a brunch before everyone heads home.
Weekday Weddings
2022 is said to have 2.5 million weddings. And while there are a lot of venues, there aren't enough for everyone to have their wedding on a weekend. We will be seeing weekday weddings this year. And while it might be a little inconvenient for guests, it helps keep it intimate. There is also the added bonus that venues are generally less costly on a Tuesday than a Saturday.
Domestic Destination
Since international travel is a bit more tricky due to Covid, many are opting to have a destination wedding, but keeping it domestic. Think Palmetto Bluff, SC or Hawaii (although this is almost like traveling international).
Color
Color is in this year! Bold, bright, happy. Push the envelope. The more colors the better.
Color Blocking
Picking one color but different tones of it. From light blush to dark pink. Pink to Red. Yellow to Orange.
Outdoor + Open Air Tents
Outdoor weddings are still very big in our Covid world. This allows for fresh air no masks and more space between people. Open air tents are a good way to bring in the event to feel intimate but keep the ventilation going.
Virtual Save-The-Dates
A lot of couples are moving toward virtual save-the-dates so they can get on calendars faster, spend less money on paper and postage and have instant access with their guests.
