Tomorrow is the start of a new month! Wait. What? Yeah. This isn't even an April Fool's joke.
Oh man. I am cracking myself up here. Tomorrow is the First Day of April. I want to share a 10 things you can do to start your month off and be successful!
Plan Your Month: Write down all of the deadlines, appointments, projects and things you know are happening. This will allow you to know when you can fit in that weekend trip, plan out your projects and get everything done before the deadline!
Plan Your Budget: Knowing how much money you have in your accounts, what your bills are and what you will need to spend money on helps you to keep spending under control and meet financial goals!
Pay Bills: Making sure that your bills are scheduled to be paid on time (love automatic bill pay) will take that stress away. And stop pit in your stomach feeling of "did I remember to pay the water bill?" from forming.
Clean Your Fridge: This really helps you to know what you have in your fridge for when you plan your meals and grocery list. One way I start this is on the last day of each month is a leftover night from the last few days of dinners. Nothing goes back in the fridge. This helps me to be able to pull everything else out, wipe it down and get rid of something I didn't know was back there, throw out expired stuff and make it more functional again.
Meal Plan: Having your meals planned for the month will make it so you don't have to think about what is being cooked for dinner. This only has to be done once a month if you want to. You will be able to grocery shop efficiently! Like I said in last weeks post about your home routine, I do one big grocery shopping trip a month and it is within the first 5 days of the month.
Buy Birthday and Holiday Cards: I keep a list of all birthdays in my planner, so I am aware of who needs a card each month. I try to buy them right around the first of the month. Also, if the month has a holiday where cards are traditionally exchanged pick those up too!
Schedule Appointments: Get your hair appointment set up. Plan time to get your nails done. Are you going on vacation? Plan those little things you will need to get done ahead of time and get them on your calendar.
Clean Your Car: Yep. You know the place where papers go to die. Empty drink cups reside. Grab a garbage bag and clean all the trash out, wipe down the dash and other surfaces. Vacuum if it's needed. Getting in the routine of cleaning your care at the beginning of the month will help you feel in control as you start each month!
Organize Your Photos: We take hundreds if not thousands of photos each month. They take up so much storage on our phones. Find a place you want to backup your photos to, and then make sure they are backed up each month. This will free up space on your phone, it will make sure you have those photos to reflect back on (who knows when you will lose your phone!).
Digital Declutter: Go through your emails, delete any emails that don't need to be taking space in your inbox. Promotional emails can go buh-bye. I set up folders in my email for each month and I will transfer any there that don't have a place in a different folder. I love to clean out my inbox, it helps me to know where to find emails and refer back to them if needed. I also take this time to unsubscribe from any email lists that I don't absolutely need to be on.
